Chennai: Anna University on Friday released the results for the first year engineering courses of the affiliated colleges. Of the total 90,000 students registered for the course, about 30,000 students were not able to access their results on the official websites As per reports, the result was withheld for 150 affiliated colleges due to noncompliance.

TOI reports that said affiliated colleges had reportedly defaulted in submission of the fees owed to the university. About 500 engineering colleges are affiliated to Anna University. All these colleges are required to pay Rs. 1200 as examination fee to the university. The result of the 150 universities has been reportedly withheld as they failed to comply with the requirements.

There is no update as to when the result would be released for the 30,000 students affected by the decision of the university. A university official told TOI, “Every college should pay Rs 1,200 per student to the Anna University’s office for student affairs. But these colleges haven’t paid them and some are yet to complete the certificate verification process even six months after students registered in their colleges.”

A similar issue was reported last year for the final year results. The delay in the results had caused several problems for students – especially the ones who were planning to travel abroad for their further studies. While officials are working on the resolution, there is no official statement that has been issued as yet regarding the declaration of the pending result.
